Graduate Program Options

Option I - M.Arch / M.I.Arch
Post-Professional degree program for students who already hold a professional degree in the area for which they are applying (architecture or interior architecture.) This one and a half to two year thesis program begins in the fall.

Option II - M.Arch / M.I.Arch
Professional degree program for students who have a four year pre-professional degree in architecture/interior architecture respectively from an accredited school.  This two-year program begins in the fall. The architecture option II program is offered in two locations: Portland and Eugene. The Portland campus offers an urban architecture focus. For information specific to this offering, click here.

Option III - M.Arch / M.I.Arch
Professional degree program for students who have a non-architectural undergraduate degree. This is a three year + one term program which begins in the summer.

Application materials for the 2010-2011 academic year are now available.


Graduate Applications for admission to the Department of Architecture will be due January 4, 2010.


Graduate Application Process


Students planning to earn graduate degrees at the University of Oregon must be admitted to the Graduate School as well as to the department in which they plan to study. The two part application process is outlined below:

First part: University of Oregon Graduate School Application

Apply for admission to the Graduate School at University of Oregon. You may complete this step in one of the following two ways, online or by downloading the PDF application. Please note:  If you apply online, you do not need to send a paper copy. See directions for each method below:
 

  1. Apply online. The on-line application requires that the applicant pay the $50 application fee by credit card. When you apply online, your application is automatically sent to the UO Admissions Office and the Graduate Admissions in the Department of Architecture. There is no need to send a paper copy. [Note: The secure on-line application requires the use of Netscape Navigator versions 4.06 and greater or Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.0 and greater or Firefox versions 1.0 or greater that support JavaScript, Cookies, and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Macintosh users require Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.51 or greater or Safari 1.0 or greater.]
  2. Download an application in PDF format. You will need to download two copies. Both the UO Office of Admissions and Graduate Admissions must receive a copy before your application can be processed. Upon completing the forms, send one copy to University of Oregon Admissions Office with your UO Graduate application fee ($50). Include the other copy with your departmental application as outlined below. International students can also download the financial statement form here.

Second part: Department of Architecture Application


The Application for admission to the Department of Architecture is due the first Monday following January 1st. The next deadline is January 4, 2010. Please note that the Option I application procedure differs from the Option II and III procedure.


Option II and Option III Interior Architecture and Architecture applicant procedures:

 

  1. Complete the online Graduate Architecture Application.
  2. Download the Graduate Application packet and submit all the required supporting materials outlined under Submission requirements.


Option I Interior and Architecture applicants applicant procedures:

  2. Download the Graduate Architecture/Interior Architecture Option I
