Undergraduate Applicant Categories

Applicants fall into three categories determined by the student's previous education.  If a student has more than 30 credits at the college level, they are classified as a transfer student and their college GPA will be used to evaluate their academic record.

First Year Applicants - B.Arch/Iarc
Students have high school diploma (or equivalent) and have earned fewer than 30 college credits.

Transfer Applicants - B.Arch/Iarc
Students have completed thirty or more college credits

Advanced Transfer Applicants - B.Arch/Iarc
Students have completed at least one year of architectural design or interior architectural design from an NAAB or CIDA accredited degree program, respectively.

Application materials for the 2010-2011 academic year are now available.

The next Undergraduate Application for admission to the Department of Architecture will be due January 15, 2010.

Undergraduate Application Process

Applications for admission to the Department of Architecture for the 2010-2011 academic year are due January 15, 2010. This is a postmark or walk in deadline. To ensure that you submit all the required parts of the application, review the application procedures and requirements carefully and complete the following steps:


First step: Application for admission to the University of Oregon:

Apply to the University of Oregon (indicate Architecture or Interior Architecture as your desired major) using the online application at http://admissions.uoregon.edu/apply/onlineapp.htm.

The University of Oregon application priority deadline for architecture majors is December 1st of the year prior to entry into the program. This is the preferred filing date only; applicants may still apply after this deadline and have their application accepted.

Second step: Application for admission to the Department of Architecture:
Apply to the Department of Architecture following the procedure listed below.

  1. Complete the online Department of Architecture Undergraduate Application form.
  2. Download the Undergraduate Application packet and submit all the required supporting materials outlined under Submission requirements.


The department application is due January 15th of the year of entry into the program. 
 


The Bachelor of Architecture/Interior Architecture is a five-year, professional degree program for students without a previous four-year college degree.

All Undergraduate First Year, Transfer and Advanced Transfer applicants to the Architecture and Interior Architecture programs must provide three specified letters of recommendation and a portfolio of creative work that include two assigned exercises and an essay.
Applicants must meet or exceed at least three of four academic indices if they are using the old SAT test scores, or four of five academic indices if they are submitting new SAT test scores (each section, total score, gpa):

  • High school 3.25 and/or College GPA 3.00 (applicants with 30 or more credits are evaluated on their college GPA - 24 must be graded credits.)
  • SAT Critical Reading/Verbal 550, SAT Math 550, SAT Writing 550, SAT Total 1100 or 1650 (depending on whether the old or the new SAT test is used.   
  • TOEFL scores are required for students whose first language is not English. Minimum score requirements: 575 (paper); 90 (internet)
