Lars Bleher

Lars Uwe Bleher received his masters degree from the University of Oregon where he was a Fulbright Scholar. After internships in Germany (Auer Weber und Partner, Stuttgart) and the U.S. (Morphosis Architects, Los Angeles), he completed his studies in Germany with a Diplom-Ingenieur (Architektur und Stadtplanung) from the Universität Stuttgart.

Professor Bleher has designed and built a variety of residential projects with his father Manfred Bleher who is an interior architect in Remseck, Germany. The Presche residence was completed in June 2001 and has been critically acclaimed and internationally published in architecture magazines and books. ("Häuser" - January 2003, AIT - June 2002, Interior Digest, Russia - October 2003, and "Staircases" published by Motta, Milan 2003).

Lars Uwe Bleher collaborates with Atelier Markgraph (www.markgraph,de) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany as lead designer and creative director. Since 1996 he has worked on numerous national and international high-end exhibition design projects. Atelier Markgraph has been pioneering the current trend of multidisciplinary design firms in Europe. Its clients range from DaimlerChrysler, Detroit/Stuttgart to Deutsches Museum, Munich. Birkhäuser has recently published Atelier Markgraph's first monograph.

"In my teaching I promote creativity. Creative thinking requires an elusive dosage of order and chaos, stability and improvisation. Design is exploration and students must explore so that the limits of the field are tested."

Professor Bleher teaches courses in design and digital media.
