B.A., 1977, Knox; M.Ed., 1980, Hawaii
M.Arch., 1990, Ph.D., 1997 UC Berkeley

Professor Kwok teaches design studios, seminars in climatic design, lighting, and building performance, as well as classes in environmental technology.

Current research interests include field investigation of thermal comfort, visualization of air movement patterns in naturally-ventilated spaces, post-occupancy measurement of physical building performance, and the development of project-based assignments integrating environmentally-responsible design. This emphasis in teaching comes from a long involvement with the Vital Signs Curriculum Materials Project, a national curriculum effort coordinated by UC Berkeley (funded by the Energy Foundation, Pacific Gas & Electric Utility, and NSF). She was the Principal Investigator of the Agents of Change project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE).  She has lectured and published extensively on topics of curriculum development, field evaluation methods, thermal comfort, and natural ventilation.

Active in professional service, Kwok has served as treasurer, secretary and board member on the Architectural Research Centers Consortium, past-president of the Society of Building Science Educators, and is a member of several technical committees member in ASHRAE.  Professor Kwok has taught at California College of Arts and Crafts, Cornell University, and workshops on case study development domestically and abroad. She is the recipient of the American Solar Energy Society’s WISE (Women in Solar Energy) Award in 2008.
